Bushland real estate is located just 14 miles west of the city of Amarillo in the southwestern portion of Potter County.  It is currently unincorporated.  Bushland has remained a small and rural community since its founding.  It is the perfect place to live the quiet simple life away from the hustle and bustle of the city, even though Amarillo is just a few minutes away.  The residents of Bushland real estate experience the typical strong sense of community that a rural lifestyle fosters. 

History of Bushland
Bushland real estate came into being in July 1908 as a stop for the Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railroad.  The land for the townsite and railroad was donated by Mr. William Henry Bush of Chicago, who owned the Frying Pan Ranch, a 250,000 acre cattle ranch.  Farmers and ranchers soon settled in and around the town.  Not long after, the post office opened and the  Bushland School District was established.  Bushland's main industry remains agriculture.  However, it is also home to the Conservation and Production Research Laboratory, a USDA backed agency created to research wind erosion in the great plains area of the south.

Bushland's Physical and Spiritual Education
The Bushland Independent School District still serves the residents of Bushland real estate with one elementary, one middle and one high school.  Bushland First Baptist Church has ministered to the community's spiritual needs since 1917.
